Kimberly von Stade

Kimberly was born and raised in Yorkshire, England. Riding ponies her mother bought from the auction, Kimberly learned at an early age the horsemanship required to get the best out of a horse by turning the unruly ponies who ended up at auction, to winning ponies in the show circuit. Traveling over hill and dale, Kimberly, her sister, and their collection of champion ponies were a force to be reckoned with.
The pursuit of adventures on horseback caused Kimberly to trade in her schoolbooks to travel across Europe. Training jumpers in France and trotters in Italy, Kimberly also backpacked through Israel and made English Breakfast on an island in Greece. Longing for her English ponies brought her home to the UK and a royal introduction to polo.
Kimberly worked for the former HRH Prince Charles, now the King of England. Caring for the finest polo ponies ignited a passion for polo in Kimberly and it was not long before she left the rainy weather of England for sunny Palm Beach, Florida. While working for 8 goaler Rob Walton, Kimberly picked up a mallet herself, which she would never put down.
Kimberly not only fell in love with polo in Palm Beach but also with Dickie von Stade of Long Island and a family with a history in horses and polo. They followed their dreams and Dickie’s ancestry to Aiken, SC where his family has roots in polo and hunting and bought Hilltop Farm.
A full circle from the equestrian countryside of Yorkshire, Hilltop Farm is a rolling landscape with far reaching views of land dedicated to the horse. Here Kimberly and Dickie raise and train polo ponies, offer the best in horse boarding and horse retirement and go on long walks with their eight beloved dogs.

Dickie von Stade

Dickie von Stade has connections to the historic beginnings of polo in the US. Dickie’s family were some of the earliest polo players from Long Island to reside in Aiken’s Winter Colony during the polo season. They were founding members of polo, hunting and racing in Aiken.
Dickie's Uncle, Charles Steele von Stade,
was on the winning team of the
US Polo Championships in
Meadowbrook, Long Island in 1941.
Dickie like Kimberly is devoted to his dogs and horses and dedicated to making sure everyone coming to Hilltop enjoys polo and has a good time.
